As many of you will already know, footwear is something that's very dear to my heart. I'm always spotting rad new sneakers, boots, or shoes that I want to get my hands - or rather - feet on. However, these days of acting more like an adult I simply can't afford to be as carefree or indulgent with such wish list items, as there's that rather small (I mean large) detail of mortgage repayments and everything else that comes with owning your first home. I have to maintain some restraint and show courage. Sneakers can be an addiction like anything else. Just less damaging for your health.

Last week I sold a pair of sneakers to a mate that weren't getting a lot of love from me and that was a smart move as now that will go towards my sneaker fund. I believe in this strategy, it's like buy-one, gift-one, but with a twist. It's now sell-one, save-for-one? Something like that anyway.

Knowing the sneaker struggle is real my friends at New Balance sent me a couple of pairs of their classic sneakers. And there's something to be said about a classic. They've stayed true to their intentions, stood the test of passing fashion fads and don't succumb to the pressures of continually having to innovate which is, of course, a large influence in the fashion category. And brands such as New Balance are experiencing continued success by looking back at these iconic silhouettes and giving them a breath of fresh air in the modern era.

So here's me wearing two iconic New Balance sneakers; the 574 and 247 in an equally local iconic location K'road and its brilliant nuances. First up was sneaking a coffee and a pie for breakfast (beer infused meat pie for breakfast was glorious) at local hot spot Holm where New Balance were celebrating the 574 grey sneaker with global recognised NB Grey Day. Then I hit up St Kevins Arcade which has come along way in recent years and has bucket loads to offer including Mediterranean food, boutique clothing stores and a wicked art galley called Monster Valley

Full disclosure. I work quite frequently with New Balance to street test their line up of sneakers and help create the content they share across their social channels. Thanks to NB for helping a brother out with some fresh sneaks.

Photography captured by two of my talented friends. First off from the Holm Cafe location is thanks to Tori who continually pushes me and my work ethic. Even when I'm stuffing my face with a pie she makes me look acceptable. Swing by her website to see just how incredible she is!

For the Arcade location, Dalong is behind the camera, who by day is an engineer and his hustle is photography and giving a shit about Mother Nature which is super rad and inspiring. Check out his insta feed here
